If this site sucks, then tell me about it! My e-mail address is at the bottom of this page. Let me know how
to improve it, and if I can, I will. I'm a NASCAR fan, I love to sail, and I'm a crappy golfer. I fix computers
for a living, but wish I did something like this. Seriously, let me know what you'd like to see here and I'll
do the best to provide it.
My Favorites
Favorite Driver: No clear favorite here, but I always pull for the 29, the 8, the 20, and the 1. I'm always
happy if these guys get a win too: the 9, the 2 and the 18.
Favorite Band or Musician: Blues, Classic Rock, Country Favorite TV show: That 70's Show Favorite movie: The Gangs
of New York
Favorite book: At the Alter of Speed, Driver #8
A Current Favorite Author! John Sandford and the Prey novels. Follow Lucas Davenport
on his exploits up in cold, cold Minneapolis! Another favorite author: W.E.B Griffin. All his books. Favorite
food: Steaks from Carson's Steakhouse in Anderson, SC and Barbeque from Smoke N Stokes in Greenville, SC. Pizza with
fresh grated parmesan cheese from Portofino's in Gastonia, NC. Venus Pies in Spartanburg, SC also deserves a mention.
Great Pies, Guys!
Favorite Place in the entire world: Other than home, it's easy. Rockport, Massachussets, on the rocks at
Land's End. I've spent many happy hours there climbing, sliding, and slipping my way along the rocks right on the ocean.
Nothing like it to make you feel small again and make you a little bit humble.
Most Admired
In NASCAR, there are quite a few. #1 is Dale Earnhardt, whom I admit that I did not like early in his career.
But Dale had more drive, more grit, more determination that any driver in NASCAR, today or yesterday. Dale never ceased
to amaze, he was always the one driver that everybody could never count out, no matter what. Heartbeats always started
racing when a driver saw that black #3 in the rearview mirror.
I admire Lee Petty, the father of a dynasty, most consistent driver ever in NASCAR.
I admire Lee's grandson, Kyle, for his ability to go on after the tragic death of his son Adam. Kudo's to the Victory
Junction Gang Camp. Way to go, Kyle.
I admire Robert Yates, and the tragedy suffered over the years on the #28 team. God Bless you, Davey and Kenny!
I admire Richard Childress, the man behind the Intimidator, who's vision for a winning team, and who's devotion to the
sport helped make the best team ever in the history of NASCAR.
Lastly, I admire Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Brian Vickers, et
al. These guys are the future of NASCAR, and they make it more exciting than ever!
I admire my brothers and sister, and sisters-in-law, Ellen, Robert, Kalpana, Alan, and Pat. I love you all very
much.
In life in general, I most admire my father and mother, two very different people born in the same year, 1924.
My father is from Greenville, South Carolina, and my mother is from West Haven, Connecticut. They've been married for
well over 50 years, my father is a World War II veteran and civil engineer, role model, and teacher about the outdoors; my
mother a wonderful homemaker, Sunday school teacher, best friend to a stupid, mixed up kid. Thanks Mom and
Dad for all you are and have always been. And thanks Mom and Dad, both of you for your service to our country.
During WWII, Dad served in the Infantry in Europe, and Mom assembled lifeboats back home. My true heroes, and truer
heroes in so many ways a boy could never have. Thank you and please know that I love you both.
